Edward Bateman (M.Ost) is a former osteopath, who now focuses primarily on Pilates and exercise, and how this can help individuals transition from dysfunction to function.

During his final year of osteopathic education, Edward qualified as a Level 3 Pilates mat work instructor through the Higher Fitness Institute, to be able to offer his patients appropriate exercises following hands-on treatment. After graduation, he spent 6 years in private practice in London, including 2 years working for the NHS in a local GP surgery. During these years Edward became acutely aware of how people’s bodies suffer due to an increasingly sedentary lifestyle. As a result he prescribed exercises and Pilates more and more to his patients to help them cope.

In 2018 Edward decided to move his practice exclusively to Pilates, offering one on one, private Pilates classes. As a trained osteopath he knows the importance of a wholistic approach to health and wellness – especially the mental, physical and emotional connection, which can be beautifully combined with Pilates.

Before qualifying as an Osteopath Edward trained as a Sports Massage therapist, and has continued his education with medical acupuncture, movement and myofascial release, cupping, functional movement screening, sports taping, and post natal Pilates.

Edward is passionate about keeping the body moving, and moving well into old age! He enjoys cooking, running, cycling and Pilates (of course).

Edward is originally from South Africa and speaks English and Afrikaans fluently, basic Dutch and Flemish, and very basic Polish.
