At Pimlico Osteopathy, we understand that women’s health is a delicate and multifaceted journey. That’s why we offer a tailored approach to osteopathy, focusing on your unique needs and empowering your body to heal itself. Our team of skilled and compassionate osteopaths is dedicated to helping you achieve optimal health and vitality.

As we’re based in Westminster, Central London, have many international clients. We know how difficult it can be to discuss your problems when English isn’t your first language, especially when they’re of a personal nature, or you’re exhausted with hormonal imbalance or after having a baby. Our practitioners will give you plenty of time to speak and are all trained in clear communication, and you can also discuss your problem in French or Italian when you book a women’s health appointment with Chiara Ribera d’Alcala.

What can our women’s health clinic help with?

As well as help and advice with painful or problem periods, menopause symptoms, and pregnancy support, a key area of our services also includes treatment to help with pelvic floor problems like stress urinary incontinence, urge urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, pain and dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles.

Endometriosis is a problem that is finally getting some well-deserved attention, and one that we get asked about regularly. A painful condition both physically and emotionally, endometriosis and dysmenorrhea can affect your whole wellbeing, including your posture. Whilst we don’t claim to be able to treat endometriosis, we can certainly offer advice on coping with your symptoms and treat the musculoskeletal pain and tightness that often occurs as a side-effect of this and similar conditions, helping to alleviate the load.

We can also help with rehabilitation for conditions such as pelvic organ prolapse or following uro-gynae surgery or repair.

If you’re at the beginning of your parenting journey, our specialised prenatal osteopathy can ease pregnancy-related discomfort and help to prepare your body for childbirth. Or if you’ve recently had a baby, we can undertake post-natal checks for pelvic floor muscle problems and rectus abdominus diastases (separation of the tummy muscles). This can be done at 6-8 weeks after giving birth (though it is still useful later on, so don’t worry if you gave birth longer ago than this). We really recommend having this check if you are intending to return to sports after having your baby.

Your therapist will ask you detailed questions to identify the problem and her assessment will include an examination of your pelvic floor muscles. Treatments may include specialist advice, trigger point release of tight or painful muscles, the use of devices to help stimulate weak muscles and a personal programme to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles.
